HEY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!!!
Since my last blog, a lot has happened! First off, we had Christmas in Cambodia and were given the opportunity to work in a few villages and celebrate Christmas with them. We also celebrated new years in cambodia as a squad which was so so sweet!
Then on january third we left cambodia on a bus headed for hua hin, thailand! We stayed in hua hin for one week to rest and catch up as a squad after nearly three months of ministry in cambodia! We learned the importance of rest and truly got to slow down and love each other better. It was so sweet to lean into each other more and have time of rest together.
On january 10th we loaded into a double decker bus and drove to bangkok thailand! We were able to spend the day exploring the city, shopping at the largest mall in southeast asia (this was the first REAL mall we had seen in almost five months!), or even just sleeping at the airport watching our bags (thanks bill). We got some new clothes, new memories, and some of us even had to get new airpods (pro tip: don’t leave your airpods on the thai beach)- but then we were off and ready for three days of travel to south africa!
As of january 12th we are in jeffery’s bay, south africa! My team will be doing life and ministry here for the next month alongside the rest of our squad! We are so happy to be here and find out what life and ministry for us looks like in our little beach town.
Now that you’re all caught up, I want to share what has been on my heart since our beloved hope international school siem reap closed!
The song “nothing i hold on to” has and maybe always will be my favorite worship song, but it has been highlighted on my heart for the past few months of the race. And as hope school closed- my heart was broken- and yet the Lord continued to remind me of this song. Yet I didn’t understand why until our last worship night in cambodia. I was so upset because I didn’t understand why the school had to close. I didn’t understand why all of these sweet families who served the Lord each and every day were having their lives turned upside down. But the lyrics in this song are perfect comfort– “i lean not on my own understanding”- if i lean on my own understanding with these questions and heartaches, nothing will ever change. I have to lean on the Lord’s understanding. He understands the full plan when i can just see a little speck of what is happening. Another lyric from this song is this, “i will climb this mountain with my hands wide open.” The Lord has put before me what to do, to keep going, keep going through this mountain of pain, confusion, and heartache– with my hands wide open– trusting Him and praising Him through it all. He is using this all in His beautiful plan for the parents, teachers, and students of Hope International School Siem Reap.
Also friends, here are some ways you can help and come alongside me and my ministry here on the race:
Prayer-
Prayers for our squad as we transition from asia to south africa and each start our respective ministries this week! And prayers that we would be able to serve our ministries well and truly be what they need in this time!
Financially-
Y’ALL I’M FULLY FUNDED!! Thank you so much to every who donated and everyone that prayed over my fundraising process at any point in this journey! The Lord truly does provide and he has shown me that yet again through allowing me to meet this goal!
At home-
Let’s get in contact! If you have any more questions or just want to chat about what I’ve been learning here on the mission field or chat about what’s happening back at home, let’s talk! I’d love to! Email me at [email protected] or text me at 6012488879!
Also, adventures in missions still has applications open for month-long trips this summer, gap year trips, and world race if you’re interested in serving overseas through an amazing organization!!
We are praying for God’s guidance and protection for you and all the squad as you continue on this journey. God is with you all as you spread his word!
Thank you so much for the update!! Love walking this journey with you, and looking forward to what HE has for y’all in South Africa!
xoxo
Madeline, we are so so proud of you taking this journey! We pray for your continued safety and your light continues to shine for others!
