HEY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!

So a little over two weeks ago we landed in Phnom Penh, Cambodia! We spent two days there exploring the city, getting accustomed to Cambodia, and overcoming our jet lag. After that, we got on a bus and rode five hours to reach Siem Reap! Siem Reap is where my team will be living until after Christmas and where we will be doing our ministry the whole time! It’s been so sweet getting to explore this city knowing this is where we get to live and do life!

My team’s ministry for our time here is so so sweet! We get the privilege of being teachers assistants at a christian international school, Hope International School Cambodia, l and help around the school with projects and events that could use a little extra love! The school is made of students and staff from all over the world! Some of the countries they are from are: Germany, England, South Korea, Brazil, USA, and Denmark– just to name a few. The teachers, parents, and students all act as one big family and it’s such a beautiful thing to watch. I’m so grateful and honored to be invited into their space and their family for these next two months!

I personally get the opportunity to help in the 4th and 5th grade classroom everyday and teach them Christian Perspectives class. I help with reading groups, math ixl, phonics, and really just wherever i’m needed in the classroom and can lend a hand! The kids are so sweet and I’m loving getting to know them and their hearts and stories.

One thing the school was really excited to ask us to do was start some clubs after school and during recess! Our team put our heads together and came up with some super fun clubs that are going great so far! A few of the clubs are: baking club, book club, game club, dance club, preschool gardening club, karate, newspaper/yearbook, and makeshift girl scouts! I get the honor of running the baby gardening club, makeshift girl scouts, and game club! We have had a few meetings so far and the clubs are going amazing! The makeshift girl scout club is especially close to my heart because I was a girl scout leader for four years and a girl scout for thirteen years! Sharing something that is so near and dear to my heart with these girls is absolutely the best thing! The Lord is working through these clubs and this school in amazing ways already!

This past week I asked for donations to buy supplies and extra little things for our clubs! Thank you so much to everyone that donated— it means the world to us, the students, and the teachers and parents! We have already been able to use that money to put some smiles on some cute kid’s faces and buy some supplies for our clubs! If you would still like to partner with us in this, we would love any donations you are able to give! We want to make these two months here super special and be able to love on the students and teachers are much as possible! My venmo is @madelinehonea!

Also friends, here are some ways you can help and come alongside me and my ministry here on the race:

Prayer-

Prayers for Hope International School as they are going through some transitions. And prayers for the other teams on our squad as they go and evangelize in siem reap and surrounding villages– that the hearts of the people they encounter would be softened and opened to the gospel.

Financially-

As i said above, if you feel led to donate to our clubs for supplies or to our ministry in general to help purchase fun things for the students, here are some ways you cab do that:
